AirBnB – our home in Reykjavik

Hi and thanks for booking 🙂

The address:
Brautaras 4, 110 Reykjavik

I decided to write the main info my guests need here, rather than having to try to remember everything every time I was sending a new guest a welcome note.  I hope it helps.

If you need any recommendations on tours or activities and like to get a discount, then I would advise you to check out www.volcanotravel.is and use my promotional code to get access.  My code is HOERDUR161

Still, if you need any further information feel free to send me a message through Airbnb, send me an email or just call my mobile (00354 858 2121)

How to find it

Our house is a beautiful town house.  The address is:

Brautaras 4
110 Reykjavik

On Google Map:  https://goo.gl/maps/WZbYThxbCtR2  –  or on “Steet view

The house

You have access to the whole house.  The garage however is locked.

But first you need to get a key.

How to get in

No matter when you arrive, getting in is very easy. There is a lockbox with your key (see video).

The lockbox is behind the grill, on the left side when you enter the front yard.  It is down by the ground.  It has a four digit security code.  I will send you the code before you arrive.

The Hot tub

(when you switch it on, it is about 40°c (104°F). Should be a comfortable temperature.

I encourage you to go to the swimming pool that is near by. It is very nice. Also if you have time, it is very nice to go for a walk in the valley near to pool. It has a beautiful river that you can walk by. It also has a beautiful waterfall if you walk about a half a mile down the river.

The secret to sunbathing in Iceland is doing so near a hot tube 🙂 So if the weather is nice, fill the tube and hang around the tube while sunbathing.  Then you can get warm if the wind blows.

No matter how cold it is, you can use the hot tube.

Using the TV

Please don’t rent or buy any movies 🙂

Trash 🙂

You can recycle.  We have three categories.  Paper, cans and bottles and other trash.  Cans, glass bottles and plastic bottles go together.

Before you leave

When you leave, it would be greatly appreciated if you could  do the following:

  1. Leave the house as much like you found it 🙂
  2. Put any dirty laundry in the laundry basket down stairs
  3. Put the key back in the lockbox

Easy as 1, 2, 3 🙂

Getting from the airport

The best way to get from the airport is to take the Flybus (flybus.is) to BSI, the main bus terminal, and take a taxi from there to the apartment at Skogarhlid 22. It is only 1,5 km from the bus terminal.

If you arrive very late or very early the key to the flat is in a lockbox, so you can get in. Let me know and I will send you the details.

Public transportation in Reykjavik

There is public transportation. The bus stop is about 200 m from the house.

If you have an Iphone there is an app for the bus in Reykjavik (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/str-to-bs./id573475820?ls=1&mt=8) and Android (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.trapeze.iceland&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS50cmFwZXplLmljZWxhbmQiXQ)

Our wifi

Our Wifi is locked.

The network should be very good.

Food, trips and what to do in Reykjavik

There is a very nice grocery store (Kronan) just across the street.  It is relatively cheap.  Here you also have a Google map where you can find stores.  But also some not so expensive restaurants, swimming pools and maybe some other things.

I hope it helps.

I hope this covers most of it, but if you have any questions feel free to call me.

Best wishes,
Hordur Hardarson
